Ministry of Health statistics indicate that they are over 23,000 Cholera cases and over 750 Cholera related deaths in Malawian since Cholera started last year.
The half marathon has been introduced with the aim of creating a platform for athletes to have many opportunities to compete, develop and improve for better performances.

In netball the junior queens suffered a surprise 55 – 35 defeat by Zambia at the griffin saenda sports complex.
In basketball, the men basketball team played against one the tournament favorite Mozambique at the Griffin saenda sports complex. The Malawi under 17 boys proved too strong for the Mozambicans as they won the game 69 – 48 baskets.
The result means the junior flames top group A on four points and qualify for the semi-finals.
Out of the 11 medals 6 are silver and 5 are bronze.
The results mean Taekwondo has collected 5 medals (3 silver 2 bronze) for Team Malawi.
Kamanga defeated Langton Machekanyanga of Zimbambwe before losing to Gcunumuzu Nxumalo of Eswatini in a gold medal contest at the Bingu International Convention Center.
Other countries such as South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Comoros, Namibia, Eswathin and Botswana have already arrived in the country for the games.
