TEAM MALAWI DEPARTS FOR ACCRA,GHANA.

Malawi will be represented by a team of 10 athletes that will compete in the Africa Games from 8th to 23rd March 2024 in Accra, Ghana.
 
The team will compete in five sports categories which are swimming, boxing, athletics, judo, and taekwondo. Yesterday, the team was presented to the public at the Lilongwe Sunbird Hotel, where a farewell cocktail event was hosted. The Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Sports Mr Isaac Katopola, was present to send them off.
 
During the send-off cocktail, the team manager Ruth Mzengo, announced the names of the 5 coaches who have been training the athletes for the past two weeks. They are Yona Walesi (Swimming), Typen Kamanga (Taekwondo), Pachisi Nyasulu (Athletics), Cassim Makwinja (Boxing), and Alfred Linguni (Judo).
 
The athletes that will represent Malawi include Asimenye Simwaka and Stein Lifa (athletics), Elias Bonzo and Lewis Zakeyu (boxing), Luka Smit and Tayamika Chang’anamuno (swimming), Chikondi Kathewera and Olivia Chikwapula (judo), and Vesta Banda and Joseph Phiri (taekwondo).
 
Dr. Sellah Msimuko will serve as the team doctor, and Joseph Mazaza will be the team leader.
 
The team left today through Kamuzu International Airport to Accra Ghana.
 
Wishing team Malawi all the best at the 13th edition of the Africa Games.
