The Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) says that it is happy with the relaunch of the ‘Sport for All’ program that took place yesterday at Mlanda primary school in Ntcheu.

The remarks were made by MNCS Board chairperson Dr. Sunduzwayo Madise after the relaunch of the program.

‘’Our decision to make Inkosi ya Makosi Gomani the Fifth as our ambassador was one of the most brilliant ideas, as you can see the turn out is massive and we have never had anything like this, it will be naïve for us to think that we have been able to pull these people, I think these people have also come because there king is here so we are very excited

‘’Our guest of honor his royal highness took part in most of the activities and we saw that he is indeed an agile young man. When we were making the decision, we said he is a young man and he loves sports and you have seen it for yourselves,’’ explained Dr Madise.

On his part the ambassador of the ‘Sport for All’ initiative Inkosi ya Makosi Gomani the Fifth explained that he was happy to see people taking part in different sporting activities regardless of their age or gender

‘’We have one elderly man who is 104 years and he is here today taking part in different sporting activities, we also have our friends that have various disabilities and they are all participating this is something that is encouraging and is bringing unity amongst us and if the rest of Malawians follows then we will be a healthy nation,’’ explained Inkosi Ya Makosi Gomani the Fifth.

The event was attended by all Traditional Authorities (T/A) and Chiefs that are under Inkosi ya Makosi Gomani. Activities on the day included aerobics, Bawo, Draughts, Chess, Jingo, Skipping, athletics, walking races, wheelchair race, volleyball, netball, football and tag of war.

The Sport for All initiative was introduced by the MNCS in 2021 in order to encourage citizens to take part in sport and physical activities, regardless of age, gender or ability as only healthy citizens can contribute positively to the development of the country.
