MNCS TO FUNDRAISE FOR MALAWI SPORTS AWARDS.

Jan 25, 2024 | News

The Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) led by its Chairperson Dr Sunduzwayo Madise will tomorrow engage different stakeholders including the heads of Government parastatals, departments and the corporate world at Sunbird Mount Soche hotel from 6 pm in a fundraising drive aimed at raising funds for the Malawi sports awards happening on 16 February 2024 at the Bingu International Convention Center (BICC) in Lilongwe.

The stakeholder engagement meeting has also been organized to encourage heads of Government departments and parastatals, and the corporate world to make more efforts in supporting different sporting codes to make sure that sports should develop in Malawi.

So far, the Government through the Malawi National Council of Sports is the major sponsor of all sporting codes in Malawi. The engagement meeting is coming in at the background that most sporting codes rely on Government funding to conduct their programs and take part in international tournaments and sometimes some sporting codes fail to implement their programs and participate in the international tournaments because they lack funding.

The engagement meeting will also try to persuade the private sector, heads of Government departments and parastatals to support the Malawi Sports Awards as they are the biggest sports awards in Malawi and they are recognized in the Region 5 community.

Earlier during the announcement of the awards, Malawi National Council of Sports Board Chairperson Dr Sunduzwayo Madise announced that the Council has extended an invitation to the state president Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera to attend the awards.

This will be the first time that MNCS will bring together heads of Government parastatals, departments, Managing Directors and Chief Executive Officers in the private sector to seek support for the Malawi sports awards as well as sports in general.
