HONORABLE MINISTER OF YOUTH AND SPORTS TO UNVEIL AND SEND-OFF THE QUEENS

The Honorable Minister of Youth and Sports Honorable Uchizi Mkandawire MP will tomorrow Thursday 19th July, 2023 unveil and sendoff the Malawi National netball team, the Queens, to compete at the 2023 Netball World cup in Cape Town, South Africa which will take place from 28th July to 6th August 2003.

The unveiling and sendoff ceremony will take place at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe and the event will start at 6:00pm.

The event has been organized in order to motivate and encourage the Queens as they go and compete at the world cup.

Currently, the Queens are in camp in Lilongwe and they are expected to depart for South Africa on Friday 21st July, 2023.

The Queens have played in six World netball championship and their highest finish was in 2007 when they finished on fifth position. During the last edition of the world cup in 2019 which took place in Liverpool, Enlgand the Queens finished on position six.

The Queens are currently on position six on netball world rankings and the team travelling to the world cup in South Africa include; Samuel Kanyenda (Coach), Mwai Kumwenda, Jane Chimaliro, Grace Mwafulirwa, Joyce Mvula, Towera Vinkhumbo, Sindi Simtowe, Laureen Ngwira, Madalitso Mkandawire, Takondwa Lwazi, Thandi Galeta and Martha Dambo.
