SCHOOLS BATTLE AT DIVISIONAL FINALS

After competing at the zone, inter zone and district levels, schools competing in the 3rd edition of the Malawi Youth Games will now battle each other at the divisional level over the weekend to determine who will qualify for the national finals.

The games started in April this year and over 11,000 schools registered for the competition.
In all the stages of the competition learners from primary and secondary schools from all the seven education divisions across the country competed in different sporting codes which include Football, Volleyball, Netball, Basketball, Athletics, Para-athletics, Chess and Swimming.

Learners from South East Education Division (SEED) which consists of Zomba, Mangochi, Machinga and Balaka will battle it out at Zomba Catholic school ground starting from 8:30 am, while learners from South West Education Division (SWED) which consist of Nsanje, Chikwawa, Blantyre, Mwanza and Neno will battle it out at Lunzu primary school, Lunzu Secondary school and Comboni Vocational Center from 8:30 am.

Learners from Shire Highlands Education Division (SHED) which consist of Phalombe, Chiradzulo, Thyolo, and Mulanje will face each other at Mulanje secondary school, Chitakale ground and Mulanje park from 8:30 am. While learners from Central East Education Division (CEED) which consist of Kasungu, Dowa, Ntchisi, Nkhotakota and Salima will contest at Chayamba secondary school, Chithiba secondary school and Kasungu stadium from 8:30am.

On the other hand, learners from Central West Education Division (CWED) which consist of Lilongwe east, Lilongwe west, Lilongwe urban, Ntcheu, Dedza and Mchinji will battle it out at Kamuzu Institute for Sport and Kamuzu barracks ground from 8:30 am. While learners from North East Education Division (NEED) which consist of Mzuzu, Mzimba north, Mzimba south, Likoma and Nkhatabay will play at Mzuzu government ground and Katoto ground from 8:30 am.

Learners from North West Education Division (NWED) which consist of Karonga, Chitipa, and Rumphi will battle it out Chirumba secondary school.

This is the 3rd edition of the Malawi Youth Games. In the last edition CWED were the overall winners of the competition.
