MALAWI UNDER 19 CRICKET WOMEN NATIONAL TEAM DEPARTS FOR BOTSWANA

The Malawi under 19 cricket women national team left the country yesterday for Gaborone, Botswana, where they will compete at the International Cricket Council (ICC) women T20 World Cup Africa Division 2 qualifiers from 2 September to 8 September 2023.

The tournament has attracted eight countries which include Malawi, Kenya, Lesotho, Mozambique, Eswatini, Cameroon, Botswana and Sierra Leon.

Malawi is in A group and will compete against host Botswana, favorites Kenya and Lesotho for top spot in the group. While group B has Mozambique, Eswatini, Cameroon and Sierra Leon. This will be the first time that eight sides are contesting the Africa Division 2 Qualifiers.

Two teams in each group at the end of the single round-robin group stage format will advance to the semi-final and the two finalists will qualify for the Africa regional final later this year.
Malawi will kickstart the campaign against Lesotho tomorrow before facing Kenya on Sunday and will conclude the group match against Botswana on Tuesday 5 September, 2023.
