Two swimming athletes are in camp in preparation for the International Swimming Federation (Fina) Junior World Championship and Junior African Championship expected to run from 20-25 August in Budapest.
Yassin Walesi, coach for the athletes said the training session organized by Malawi Aquatic Union (MAU) for athletes Jessica Makwenda and Asher Banda is taking place at Sun ‘N Sand Holiday Resort in Mangochi training which involves ;endurance, fitness, distance and speed. The third swimmer Hurry Macpherson is doing his training in Australia.
Asher Banda will represent the country at Junior African Championship to be held in Tunisia in August.
“I like the way MAU is approaching the preparations. It is not only about training, but it goes beyond and tackles areas of sport management, ethics, swimming ranking, performance and maturity growth”, he said.
