FLAMES START PREPARATIONS FOR CRUCIAL WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS

The coach of the Flames, Patrick Mabedi, has announced a 26-man squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Sao Tome and Equatorial Guinea.

Malawi will host Sao Tome at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Thursday, June 6. The team will then travel to Malabo to face Equatorial Guinea on Monday, June 10. June 10.

So far, Malawi has played two games, winning against Liberia and losing against Tunisia, and is in 4th position with 3 points. Namibia tops group H with 6 points, followed by Tunisia with 6 points. Liberia is third with three points, Equatorial Guinea is 5th with no points, and Sao Tome and Principe anchor the group with no points.

The team is expected to start full training this afternoon in Lilongwe.
