Jul 18, 2022 | News

29 sports administrators in the northern region took part in a sports administration course that started on Tuesday 12th July to Saturday 16th July 2022 at the Grand palace hotel in Mzuzu.

The aim of the course was to build capacity for sports administrators in Strategic planning, financial management, resource mobilization, sports facilities management and transformation leadership. The course also focused on understanding the roles of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Malawi National Council of Sports and Sports Associations.

The Malawi National Council of Sports has embarked on these trainings through its Regional Sports and Recreation Development Officers with the aim of equipping sports administrators in all regions across the country with skills and knowledge on how they can manage their finances, plan strategically for their activities and have the skills of writing effective proposals to the corporate world when seeking for support and assistance.

MNCS is of the view that once sports administrators are able to plan strategically, manage their resources and are able to generate resources for their activities sport in the country will be able to develop and be promoted.

The participants in the course come from different sports associations, Moyale barracks and Chilumba barracks. The training was facilitated by Mr. John Kaoche a lecture in sports management at Mzuzu university and Mr. Kossam Mphande a sports administrator. After the course participants were given certificate of attendance.

This is a second sport administrators course to take place this year following the first one which took place in Lilongwe early this year. The third sport administrators course will take place in the southern region very soon.
