Nakoma to Meet Associations’ Torch Bearers

The new board chairperson for Malawi National Council of Sports, Mr. Oliver Nakoma shares his Vision in sports industry.

The successor of James Chuma, as board chairperson for Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS), Mr.Oliver Nakoma says he will meet national associations’ leaders and players in order to push for improvement of their welfares in the country and including persuading more companies to support the sports industry.

“If we put much effort to support sports in the country, sport will be an income generating activity and athletes will be benefiting a lot from the finances gained. During my two-year tenure, I will make sure that youths take sports as a career”, he said.

He further said the agenda of the meeting the associations and players is to discuss the challenges they face as they operate in the country.

Netball Association of Malawi’s general secretary, Carol Bapu reacted to sports council’s chairperson commitment to seek for corporate support.

“Netball, being one of the active sporting activities needs financial and material support from both government and corporate world in order to increase its strides it has already started. As associations’ leaders, we are looking forward to meeting him and discuss ways of developing sports in the country”, she said.
