Archer Athlete Wins Gold in Switzerland

Arenao David won a gold medal in 70 meters contest at Archery Open Championship in Lausanne, Switzerland, after beating 39 other archers on 23 June, 2019.

David is doing his solidarity training scholarship in Switzerland under international Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Olympic and he was excited with his performance.

“I am glad to have beaten experienced athletes. I am confident that I will qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games”, he said.

The spokesperson for Malawi Olympic Committee (MOC) Kyththrina Phiri commented that the competition was part of training for 2019 Morocco All Africa and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in Japan during the interview.

David also qualified for Rio Olympic Games in 2016.

Henry Sakala, president for Archery Association congratulated the Arenao David for his wonderful performance.

“Let’s wish him well and other archers well as they prepare for Olympic Games in 2020”’ he said.
Boxing, swimming and athletics have been representing Malawi on solidarity. Another game apart from archery heading to qualify for the Olympic Games is Judo.
