Hockey Association of Malawi (HAM) has received a donation of hockey equipment from Indian High Commission. The donated equipment is comprised of 200 hockey sticks.

Executive secretary for Malawi National Council of Sports, Henry Mereka said the equipment will go a long way to developing sport in the country.

“We face infrastructure and equipment challenges in hockey and other sporting disciplines in the country. We are very appreciative to Indian people for this equipment offered to us and we believe this is not the end”, he said.

Anurag Bushan, Indian High Commissioner said the donation is courtesy of the Hockey Federation of India.

“High Commission made the request to Hockey Federation of India for this equipment to help develop the sport in the country. This is just the beginning of the relationship with sports authorities in the country,” he said.

HAM vice-president, Khrishna Achuthan thanked the Indian High Commissioner and Hockey Federation of India for the donation.

“The equipment will be distributed across the country for the development of the sport”, he said.
