The Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) was established by an act of Parliament, Act No 10, of 1974, to provide oversight to the development of all sporting disciplines in Malawi.
The Malawi National Council Act has however extended and specified the mandate of the sporting body corporate on among others; matters of women and sport, professional sport, sport for people with disabilities, recreational sport as well as anti-doping within sport.

Malawi, through Malawi Paralympic Committee (MPC) is training primary teachers from different schools, at Katoto in Mzuzu district on Para Sport Against Stigma.
The Malawi National Council of Sports is offering opportunity for local sports practitioners to pursue a customized non-degree, multi-dimensional sport management course programme which is based on research and practical experience, developed by the Department of Bio-kinetics, Sport and Leisure Sciences and the Centre for Leisure Studies at the University of Pretoria in South Africa, in collaboration with recognized experts.
Malawi‘s under 18 athletes will be participating in different sport disciplines such as netball, athletics, volleyball, and football at the Regional Five(V) Tournament to be held in Lesotho from 4th to 13 December 2021.
