MNCS DONATES BUILDING MATERIALS TO MILOMBWA PRIMARY SCHOOL
Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) has donated building materials worth over 2 million Malawi kwacha to Milombwa Primary school which is located in Nsalu, Lilongwe on Friday, 20th December 2019.
In every year, MNCS recognize one of the outstanding sport personnel, who is given a chance to cheer up with sport fans of his/her choice with any kind of support.
With this background, Moneyi Chingaipe was selected after winning a Gold medal at the 8th edition of the African Union Sports Council Region 5 Under-20 Youth Games (AUSC) in 2018 which took place in Gaborone, Botswana.
In 2019, she won the Malawi Sport Awards as junior female sports person. She also won the 2019 RASA award as the best junior female athlete that was held in Windhoek, Namibia where she overcame her fellow athletes from eleven countries such as South Africa, Botswana, Angola, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Zimbabwe and Zambia. Moneyi therefore chose Milombwa primary school to be part of her beneficiary of this privilege which also happens to be her school where she learns.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Sports, Youth and Culture, Hon.Francis Phiso MP who was the guest of honor said Moneyi has set an example to her fellow youths that everything is possible despite gender and promised to do more than helping her school in Nsalu.
“I am very pleased to learn of her success in her carrier and it is my pleasure to give Moneyi the opportunity to learn at a boarding school,” said Hon. Phiso.
He further pleaded with her parents and the community people in the area to look after Moneyi and make sure that she does not get involved in early marriage related issues which would definitely ruin her career and education.
Iron sheets, planks, and other building packages are some of the materials Milombwa primary school has received from Malawi national council of sports.
The Minister of Sports, Youth and Culture, Hon. Francis Phiso,MP, PS, the Director of Sports, Mr James Ndalama, the acting Executive Secretary of the Malawi National Council of Sports Mr. Hnenry Mereka, T/A Kabudula, Chiefs around T/A Kabudula, School committee for Milombwa primary and officers from Malawi National Council of Sports graced the occasion.
Sports personality of the year 2018, Bernadette Kwimbira together with Malawi National Council of Sports cheered patients at Zomba Central Hospital and presented hampers worth K1 million in the similar event.
